Preparing for Plastic Surgery Recovery
So you’ve been checking out your new face in the magnifying mirrors next to your hospital bed and you can’t wait for the swelling to go down. But there is one thing you should be more concerned about…did you prepare for your own return before you went in to have facial cosmetic surgery? These simple tips will ensure your recovery is as quick and comfortable as possible. Follow these tips BEFORE you go into hospital to get the best results from your cosmetic surgery experience!
Firstly, if you are a smoker then it is important that you stop smoking at least 2 weeks before surgery. This is because smoking impairs circulation and can affect your healing process. Preparing for your recovery includes a whole host of things. Ensure you clean your house for your return and plug in a night light so you can easily find your way to the bathroom- as your eyes will probably be very puffy after surgery.
Stock up on soft, bland foods because the surgery will have affected your ability to eat properly. This includes jelly, frozen foods, soup, etc. Try and stock up on foods that are quick and easy to make, as you will find your energy levels will be low when you return from hospital.
Ensure your bed is propped up with lots of pillows so you can rest your head properly. A reclining armchair may be even better for the early days of recovery. Buy all your medical supplied before you go in for surgery. This inicludes antibiotics, antibacterial soap, a thermometer and even bags of frozen peas for swelling reduction. Mark all medications with the time and date that they should be taken. You will thank yourself later!
On your bediside table it would be a good idea to have crackers/biscuits, water, medications, fully-charged phone and a remote control with new batteries. Fully charge your laptop/kindle/iPad/iPod for entertainment uses. Buy your favourite magazines and DVDs that you have been meaning to see. After all, you deserve it for putting up with the stresses of cosmetic surgery!
